532e sociétaire
Jérémy Lopez began his training at the Lyon Conservatory, and followed up at the École nationale supérieure des arts et techniques de théâtre where Jean-Pierre Vincent directed him, along with other students from his graduation class, in Les aventures de Zélinda et Lindoro after the work by Goldoni.
In 2010, he made his debut at the Comédie-Française, under the direction of Jérôme Deschamps, in Feydeau’s Un fil à la patte. He returned to Feydeau in 2015, when he interpreted Thommereux in Le Système Ribadier directed by Zabou Breitman.
On the 1st of January 2017, he was appointed the 532nd sociétaire of the Company. Within the repertoire of Molière, Jérémy Lopez played in La Critique de l’École des femmes as staged by Clément Hervieu-Léger; The School for Wives (L’École des femmes) by Jacques Lassalle; The Imaginary Invalid (Le Malade imaginaire) by Claude Stratz; and Don Juan or the Feast With the Statue (Dom Juan ou le Festin de pierre) by Jean-Pierre Vincent. From Shakespeare, he played in the following plays: The Merry Wives of Windsor by Andrés Lima; Troilus and Cressida by Jean-Yves Ruf; A Midsummer Night’s Dream by Muriel Mayette-Holtz; and Romeo and Juliet where he was entrusted with the male lead by director Éric Ruf. Benjamin Jungers saw him as Arlequin in Marivaux’s L’Île des esclaves, and Édouard Signolet as Prince in Andersen’s The Princess and the Pea.
Though often associated with the classical repertoire, Jérémy Lopez has also played in a number of contemporary pieces, such as Marguerite Duras’ La Pluie d’été directed by Emmanuel Daumas, Jean Genet’s Haute Surveillance by Cédric Gourmelon, Harold Pinter’s The Birthday Party by Claude Mouriéras, Bertolt Brecht’s Threepenny Opera by Laurent Pelly as well as The Resistible Rise of Arturo Ui by Katharina Thalbach, Edward Bond’s The Sea by Alain Françon, who had previously directed him in Chekhov’s Three Sisters. He contributed vocally to Serge Bagdassarian’s Cabaret Boris Vian, Thierry Hancisse’s Cabaret Brassens and Christiane Jatahy’s La Règle du jeu, where his portrayal of Robert de la Chesnaye was highly praised.
Jérémy Lopez appeared in films such as in Best in Bed (À coup sûr) by Delphine de Vigan, C’est beau la vie quand on y pense by Gérard Jugnot and Le gendre de ma vie by François Desagnat. Vincent Macaigne envisaged him as Pierrot in his television movie Dom Juan et Sganarelle after the work by Molière, broadcast on Arte in 2015.
During the 2018-2019 season, Jérémy Lopez plays in Le voyage de G. Mastorna after the work by Federico Fellini directed by Marie Rémond and in Bertolt Brecht’s Life of Galileo by Éric Ruf; as well as in the rerun of Victor Hugo’s Lucrezia Borgia by Denis Podalydès.
