Patronage and events

« En peu de temps parfois on fait bien du chemin. »
Molière

The Club 1680 gathers the patrons who supported us financially, especially during the pandemic, either through direct donations to out Foundation or by gifting the Comédie-Française the amount of their cancelled tickets.

The Club 1680 is currently made up of over 600 members who made online donations for unit amounts under €1,500. We occasionally seek their support for projects regarding the preservation and diffusion of our cultural heritage.

Each month, Club 1680 members receive a newsletter with articles on the House, its history, the Troupe, and our current events and shows.

Thanks to the fundraising campaign for the Young Readers and Writers Bureau launched on March 1, 2021, over €15,000 were donated in the course of two months.

This first campaign was arousing success. Thanks to the Club 1680, 17 young people enjoyed unique courses, with over 60 hours of reading, writing and acting workshops taking place throughout the entire 2021-2022 season, and attended all the shows performed at the Comédie-Française.

The Molière 2022 season marked another span of solid support from the Club 1680. Thanks to the fundraising campaign launched on December 1, 2022, €8,000 were donated in two months.

Two exceptionals events took place thanks to these donations : Molière’s chair was restored and the Molière exhibit on stage opened at the Théâtre du Vieux-Colombier, from January 28 to the end of that season.

Support the Comédie-Française and join the Club 1680 by making a donation here, and help us complete exceptional new projects.

The Club 1680 provided €6 612 for the creation of the show Le Chien – Les Contes du chat perché, presented at the Studio-Théâtre between March 23 and May 7 2023.

All of the €8 600 raised in the last fund-raising campaign was used to finance the restoration of Edmond Geffroy's painting Les Sociétaires en 1851
