L'Académie
The Comédie-Française welcomes, for the duration of one season, young graduates from leading higher arts schools, offering them a unique complement to their training:
- six actors or actresses
- one director-dramaturg
- one scenograph
- one costume designer
- one sound designer
The Académie provides them with practical experience alongside the Troupe, as well as guest directors and the teams of the Maison.
There are no open applications or auditions for the 2026-2027 season.
The idea is already an old one: every theatre should have a school within it. These schools would differ from one another just as the theatres themselves do: distinct identities, different — even opposing — philosophies. In this way, the diversity of experience would guarantee the perpetual renewal and freedom of art.
